No Meeting Tomorrow

No Meeting on Tuesday, October 15th, 2013

As I was preparing for our meeting tomorrow, I realized I don't really have any new information to pass out to you so I am going to cancel the official meeting but if you would like to come in to work on some fleece blankets, then please come.

I think I said at our last meeting that we would have an after school workshop tomorrow, October 15th for working on some quilts, but I am going to cancel that as well. (I forgot it is my husband's birthday). We will reschedule that after school workshop for next Tuesday, October 22nd from 2:00 - 3:30.

Important Dates!!

Friday, October 4th, at lunch in room C-3. We will be making fleece blankets. Come to learn how to make them the Project Linus way. We will work on 5 blankets at once. Some will be cutting, some will be using the seam ripper and some will be "tying". Let's see how far we can get in 35 minutes!!

Tuesday, October 15th, after school from 2-3:30 in room C-3 for making quilts. If you'd like to learn how to sew or quilt, or if you have experience doing one or the other or both, come and help out. This will qualify for Service Hours for CJSF.

Project Linus Welcomes You!!!

Rio Norte Project Linus club conducted their first meeting of this school year today at lunch. If you missed it, we will be meeting on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month in room C-3. There is a huge fundraiser being held at our Westfield Town Center Mall this Friday, August 23rd from 3:00 until closing. Several restaurants have agreed to donate a percentage of the bill to our local Project Linus Chapter. These funds will help us purchase materials and supplies so our students can make blankets with spending a lot of their own money. We are also working closely with the Senior Center, getting them some needed supplies so they can make Project Linus blankets too. See this attached flyer - print it out, bring it with you and feel good about working with such a worthy cause. Also, stop by the Project Linus table, which should be near the food court entrance, near Cinnabon, to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win 2 Disneyland Park Hopper tickets!!! May Yarn Drive

The SCV Chapter of Project Linus is sponsoring a Yarn Drive during the month of May. We are collecting 100% Acrylic new yarn skeins or if you have partial skeins, you can turn those in too. No wool yarn please, as it is too itchy for babies and children. There is a drop off box in the office at Rio Norte, or you bring it to Room C-3.  Once, again... thank you for your support!

Welcome to Project Linus!

Rio Norte Junior High is proud to join efforts with Academy of the Canyons' Project Linus campaign. We had our first meeting last week and had over 30 students in attendance!! Our students are excited about making blankets for the seriously ill or traumatized children and babies in Santa Clarita.

This is such a special program and anyone can participate! Whenever a blanket is completed, just bring it to Rio Norte and we will get it to the donation center for you!

There are some specific guidelines for the materials used for the blankets, so please check out the blanket guidelines link for that information.

Donated Blanket Count:  11 (we've only just begun!)
